Hello, all - first post to this forum.
I have been bitten by the 50 bug after having fired one at our local range (an AR-50). I have heard many good things about Serbu firearms - I was interested in a repeater however, like the Cobb BA50. I saw a reference to the possibility of a mag-fed bolt action BFG50, but haven't seen anything on the site about it. Is it a possibility? If it would be a few months wait I'd do that.
Also, is there a big practical difference between the 36" barrel and the regular 29"? I wouldn't be shooting at extreme ranges - the longest range I know of is 500 yards. Are there other advantages to it besides a bit more muzzle velocity and stabilization?
As far as getting one from the factory - I have relatives in Tampa and visit from time to time. I take it if I bought one there I would pay sales tax? 6%? I'd have to compare that with shipping and FFL fees here - it may be a bit cheaper for me to have it shipped (as well as not having to potentially explain to a cop what I was doing transporting this dangerous looking rifle through Illinois or some such).
Thanks for any info

I actually tried (in the computer) sticking the BFG-50A's lower onto a tubular, BFG-50 style receiver, and it looks like it should work. If it does, then we'll have a 10-round bolt gun that doesn't cost like a straight-pull version of a BFG-50A would.
Difference between 29.5" barrel and 36"? Well, you get more velocity with the latter, and it would be less stiff than the former except that it's a heavy contour. How's that for saying a whole lot of nothing? Most people are happy with the 29.5", and we sell them at about a 25:1 ratio over the 36" heavy barreled version.
If you buy direct from us you have to be sure your own State's laws are followed. Local sales tax is 7.5%; shipping is $60 including case. So you do the math.

OK - thanks for the reply, Mark. I'll keep an eye to this site from time to time.
50's are legal here (missouri). Actually I am proud of the fact we get a D- from Brady - it's not like Kentucky or some such but we do a pretty good job at keeping the 2nd alive.
