Mark,
Why don't you just offer different barrel options from stock to super match? If the barrel is interchangable you could offer caliber changes also right?

What other MOA bases are you going to offer besides 25 MOA? A 50 base would be nice for anyone that wants to shoot out to 2000 yards.

We'll definitely be offering barrel options, different scope bases, etc., eventually. Need to get caught up first, though!

Hey NYS,
What, besides drift, is the reason to use 750 vs. 650 grn bullets for 300 to 1000 yard targets? Looking at the Lehigh site, I see the 650 grn match ball ammo and then those other bore riders and hybrids. A 750 hunter vs a 650 match and all I see is price and match grade. I'm using those SA 690's from Wideners, they work but I want to see what I can do with better components. From these three, Barnes, A-Max, and Lehigh, which would you recommend as all-around good.

Thanks

700-750 grn projos shoot better with most powders in a 50 cal, except the real slow burning powders. You'd want to use 800 grn + projos with the slower burning powders. There's alot more to getting the most accuracy out of a rifle, such as barrel length, twist rate, projo design, powder burn rate and case(powder) capacity. The 50bmg was designed to work in a MA deuce(M2) and John Browning just beefed up the 30.06 cartridge case dimensions to make it work.I don't and won't second guess John Brownings design,I just enjoy them.He did the best with what he had available in his time. It's up to us to capitalize on the 50's accuracy with the better components and firearms we have available now.To sum it up,The 750 grn projo is just a weight that works good in most rifles.
The 50 is prone to wind drift too.Not as much as the smaller calibers, but I've had rounds off target in a 10mph wind, when I was hitting with regularity just minutes before. The LH 650 grn projo isn's made for LR shooting. It has a low BC and was designed for 600 yd plinking. The same as the M33 ball projo.I've shot alot of the SA ball. They have their place and will shoot decent in hitting hard targets out to and past 1K.
You have to decide if you want Semi auto accuracy,or single shot accuracy with the projo's you have listed. The Barnes TacX and LH (510-200) solid projos are designed for the projos Ogive to be close to the lands of an M82 when seated to fit into the Mag.The Amax's Ogive point will have more of a jump before it contacts the rifleing when seated to fit into the Mag.That means No semi auto shooting with the Amax,if you want to get the most out of it.I like copper jacketed projos,so I use the Amax and The Barnes XXX 647 HP projo for most things I do with a 50bmg.I use the SA ball for plinking too.
You should look into the 50bmg Rocky Mountain projo. It's like the Amax, but it's a little shorter for Mag fed useage and it has a ULD(ultra low drag) boattail design.I'll do some testing with them after the match,as I don't have enough of them to do a good evaluation.I'm seating the Amax to 5.550" OAL. The 5.600" OAL was a bit to close to the lands and was building up alot of pressure.
