He'll be 14 in February. I know it seems that I waited a long time to get him to shoot one of these things, but you have to realize that he's pretty bored with guns most of the time. At the outing that day he and his friend got to fire an MP-5, AK-47, M-16, CZ-58, Luger, P-38, '03 Springfield, M-1 Garand, BFG-50. Oddly enough, their favorite guns to shoot were the '03 Springfield and the BFG-50. I'd have figured it would have been the machine guns.

Since most people don't know what a CZ-58 is, here's a pic. It's a Czech version of the AK-47. Sort of. It's bolt locks up like a P-48 or a Beretta 92...very unusual. It's a little more compact and lighter than an AK-47 and it fires a bit faster. It's somewhat of a handful on full-auto if you're not used to it. The stock is really odd...it's some sort of molded particle board. Cheesy and cool at the same time. The magazine is aluminum has has a provision for last shot bolt hold-open, unlike AK mags. Gun was made in 1963 and was brand new when I got it a few years ago (it's a post-1986 dealer sample machine gun). I think Ohio Ordnance is making a semi-auto version.

Do any of you ever shoot that thing with optics? Even in the videos, that thing doesn't have a scope... _________________ "Let's hear it for the most important armed force of all: YOU and ME!"

Yeah, sometimes I shoot 'em with optics. Like at 1000-yard matches. The problem is that I'm such a spaz, I'll run out to an informal shoot and forget the scope. I usually have enough time to plan so that doesn't happen to me at the matches, though. Go ahead...make comments about my pale, white legs. Hey, if I wasn't busy building guns all the time I might be able to go out on my garage queen boat and work on my tan! Not that I would, of course....arming the country with my evil black children of mass death and destruction (henceforth known as EBCMDD...hmmm...T-shirt or bumper sticker idea!) is far more important than getting a tan!!!
