Guys, we finally got our .50 DTC reamer from Manson reamers, so we're officially "standard" (i.e., our guns and EDM's guns can shoot the exact same ammo). From running the reamer through our current .50 DTC barrels, we found there was a very, very small amount of material removed, so we were damn close to standard before (by a really odd twist of fate that caused two different reamer manufacturers to make the same mistake). In any case, the first gun to be made to the new standard is going out of here in a few minutes, and has an appropriate muzzle brake engraving. In other .50 DTC news, I spoke to a commercial ammunition manufacturer just before the SHOT show about doing a run of .50 DTC ammo, and they're definitely on-board with the idea. So hopefully having to "roll your own" ammo for this caliber will be a thing of the past soon.

Is the chamber in the BFG (50 bmg)considered standard or match?Who sets the standard for chambers if SAAMI doesnt have a standard established?

BFG-50s have always had a "hybrid" chamber. It's hybrid in that it's fairly tight in the throat area but looser in the rest of the chamber. This allows you to shoot all military rounds and yet have much better accuracy than a machine gun chamber will allow. All the Mossberg barrels we use are made with our own special reamer which is based off the military accuracy chamber dimensions. It's odd that in nearly 90 years SAAMI still doesn't spec the round, but that hasn't seemed to hurt anything.
