i used to have a sako with a zeiss conquest on it. it was ok for me. i spent about the same amount of money on my ATM 12-36X80mm yes 80MM objective lens. and i really really like it. great clear picture. just as good as zeiss, leapold, and nightworsted i mean nightforce but cheaper. and then best thing i like about my scope is that it came with a 1000 yard BDC and a 3000 yard range finder built in. and a 10 position illuminated reticle. and the best thing about these scope to me other than being under a 1000 bucks was that its built by ATN. they make the same crap that i used in the USMC as a scout/sniper in crappy war against ragheads, and i never had a problem with my gear from ATN. and if you do break something you send it back and they fix it for free. so i would suggest ATN over anyother scope. i have had leapold and zeiss, super sniper, and a nightworst (nightforce) all on my BFG and barret m82A1, M99. still these is the BEST scope i have ever had. here is where i got mine from http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ATN138-47082-1905.html the best price i could find. _________________ NRA member |

You have got to be kidding (shitting) me?!
ATN has one of the worst fucking reps in the biz as far as putting one on a .50 BMG. Their scopes will NEVER compare to Nightforce, Leupold, Swarovski, USO or any other top end scope. Shitty manufacturing, piss yellow coatings on their lenses....
Since when did the Marines start using ATN? Unertl and USO have the contract for sniper scopes for the Marines.
Stone Cold,
You can't go wrong with a Ziess, their scopes are top quality.

i had a nightforce on my barrett m99 and something inside of it happened i do know know what but i got a hazy picture and it lost all of it adjustment. i sent it back to get repaired and they inform that i had to pay for the repaires. because i had it on a 50bmg. i told the stupid ass guy that everybody that i knew at the time had one on their BMGs and he told me that it was not designed for that round. so i paid to have it fix cause you can't sell something thats broke. when i got it back the finish on it was all jack up. i called them back and they told me that there was nothing they would do except for me to pay to send it back and pay to have it recoated. i thought that was really shitty so i sold it to the frist sucker i could find and ever since them i have hated them. this was a few years back so maybe they have their shit together by now but i will never buy one ever again. _________________ NRA member |

i used the ATN night vision stuff in USMC. i had a USO on my rifle and i never said i had a ATN on it. and also i never said anything bad about zeiss or any of the other ones. i said zeiss was ok. yes ATN has a piss yellow tint on the lens but it helps ME with the light and mirage on long shoots. and also i NEVER compared ATN to Swarovski, USO. i said that ATN was "just as good as zeiss, leupold, and nightworsted i mean nightforce but cheaper" USO to me is the best i got alot of C.K.'s with mine. and Swarovski i do not know any thing about them never had one. leupold to me is a way over price. and nightforce is a shitty company with a less than average products I THINK. why are nightworst so great? how many people have them? did they have to sell their soul in order to get a nightworst. and 50 shooter what kind of scope do you have and what did it cost and what is it on. i have a $2195 serbu BFG and i have a $800 ATN scope on it. i have a barrett M82A1 that cost me $10,500 with a USO MST100 than cost me around $2,500 do not remember the exact price. so a scope that cost less than half the price of the rifle is worth it to me. not a scope that costs about the same as the rifle. the rifle is not going to shoot any better with a million dollor scope or a one dollor scope. ITS ALL ABOUT THE SHOOTER AND NOT AS MUCH AS THE SCOPE but i do not know this is just my two cents and thats about what its worth. _________________ NRA member |

THE ZEISS HAS 1 INCH TUBING AS OPPOSED TO 30MM ON ANY OTHER BIG NAME SCOPE. IS THIS GOING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I DONT CARE MUCH ABOUT DISTANCES OVER 1000 YARDS. THE ONLY THING I CARE ABOUT IS THE DURABILITY OF A 1 INCH AS OPPOSED TO A 30MM. IS THE 1 INCH TUBING OKAY FOR MY RIFLE? _________________ Brews, Blues & BBQ |

I have a NF on my AR-50 and have never had a problem with it. If you go to any of the 50 competitions the two dominant scopes are NF and Leupold. Of the ATN scopes that I've seen, none of them worked worth a damn.
I paid $1,300 for my NF and that's a damn good price for the amount of scope that you get. Your experience with NF's customer service is the first bad one that I've ever heard. Most people reply that they've had their scope returned within a week or less and a list of everything that was done. The responses were also very positive about how NF treated them.
Stone Cold,
The biggest thing you need to look at is the amount of MOA in elevation so that you'll be able to get out to 1000 yards. If it doesn't have enough you'll need to get a tapered base to help you out. What ever they list for it (say 50 MOA) remember that this is only HALF it's TOTAL travel. The number they give will be split by up and down travel of elevation. |
