I know allot of you load your own, but even so, where are the best places to buy .50 BMG on the market? I find the .50bmg dosn't last long on the shelf these days ( at least where I've been getting mine ) Anyone know of a place where they got endless supplies of the stuff just sitting around besides in Iraq? Question

p.s. I don't load my own for the simple reason I don't want to kill myself, its a self preservation thing you might not understand Very Happy

The worst part is the fact that Talon screwed up and is now closing. I sure hope that there's a company out there willing to pick up the slack, if not prices are going to go WAY up! Add to that the fact that surplus ammo will dry up.

If I only had a few million to start up a company to do what they did. Crying or Very sad

Most of the dealers who sell loaded 50 bmg are sold out.If you do find a can for sale, its usually some type of incindiary that is not legal in all areas. Many dealers have match ammo in stock. These are loaded with A max,and are very expensive. When the mil surplus dries up, new aftermarket is all that will be left at a huge cost difference.I suggest you get yourself a Lee press and get to work. The Democrats are coming!

RVOW is a good candidate for a company that could probably take up the commercial re-manufacturing aspect of things.
Since the owner past away, his wife seems to be having a difficult time operating the business. Perhaps someone will now be swayed by rising prices to buy her out or partner with her to get things back on track.

I wasn't pleased with the Talon I bought at all, 6 to 8 inch groups at 200yds doesn't get it..I still have about 250rds of it, just haven't decided what I am going to do with it.

There was some talk that Talon wasn't actually demilling some ammo in every case (as they were supposed to!) One of the reasons they lost their contract....

It may be that you got a batch of ammo with the original primers left in place. Can you post any pictures of the case heads showing them?

Was there a tag in each box showing the re-manufacture date?

Stuff I saw from the last year or so had new nickled Hirtenberger primers and NO sealant in place of the old mil-surp with sealant

If you want to sell it, let me know.... my M2HB doesn't care what it's fed!

one can has all WWII cases. They look like they have new primers in them. The other can is 50s dated and looks like the primers are still staked in place. I'll make some pics and post them. I have only fired from the can with the WWII cases. The weather turned bad before I could get back to the range and try the other can. It is starting to warm up now, so I may go and try it and see if it shoots any better.

For the price people are charging for a full ammo can these days, you can buy a brand new lee press. It seems to be the only bargain you will get owning a 50bmg.

I was just looking at the Cheeper Than Dirt website, They want $649.00 for 150 rounds of Ball Ammo that looks like the old remanufactured Talon crap. Talk about price increase, I got the same thing a couple months ago for $239.00. Looks like reloads are the best to go, since the Jews are out in force!

P.s. They want $800.00 for 150 Incendary.

I got 3 words : KISS MY ASS Very Happy

Holy cow!
Even with the rise in surplus component prices right now you could reload the same thing yourself for around:

.70 primered 'virgin' TZZ brass
.12 surplus 5010/860 powder ( component prices from hi-techammo.com)
.40 m33 ball projo
-----
1.22
x 150
------
183.00
+160.00 Lee .50bmg reloading kit:
--------
343.00 Total 'Startup' cost for initial 150 rounds (2.28 ea.)

Drops to 1.22ea for subsequent reloads!

With the 'extra' savings you could get a nice electric trimmer and big Hornady powder measure too!

Shocked

I never reloaded myself. Its just not worth it for most of my guns. When I was considering the 50bmg,ammo was everywhere. And cheap! Now however, reloading is the only way to even get ammo.
