| Looks like maybe the butt area will accept a monopod ? Or is the horizontal cylinder out the right side, low, for another purpose than a set screw, `a la' Barrett ? |

It looks like a person would have to make a pipe-like spanner tool to reach inside that hand guard in order to spin the HG retainer nut loose. Then make another spanner wrench to remove the barrel nut. If the barrel nut wrench isn't a good fit, it's going to screw up those external threads and you won't be able to reinstall your hand guard.
Compounding the problem, is the HG nut is deep inside there, so trying to make a wrench to fit it, while peering at it with a flashlight from 18 inches away, is going to be a pain in my ass.
I believe Mark mentioned something about selling those tools?????????
If not, how bout a spare HG retainer nut so I could make my own (a bit easier)?
I'm ready to do some crazy shit with this thing, but nothing is going to happen without those two tools.

Something like these?
You don't need a flashlight...the wrench on the end of the tube "finds" the handguard nut by itself. Once the handguard is off you use the custom spanner wrench. This is the only set of tools at the moment, but we'll be making and selling them soon. Or I could send you the drawings if you want to "roll your own".

Yep, that's what I need. Let me get the rest of the stuff together and if you don't have the tools for sale by then, I'll get the prints and make a set myself.
